‘Meet the Founders’ Video Profile Use #1: The ‘About Us’ Page Comes to Life
July 2, 2008
Most ‘About Us’ pages offer a fairly dry and mundane snapshot of the most important part of any company: the actual people behind the company. Some include photos, but most are just the obligatory team bio’s that are rarely ever read. Core Values tend to come next. No offense, but if you have to state that one of your core values is ‘integrity’, then I think you are kind of missing the point. Then there comes the Mission Statement, which typically claims to be revolutionary, usually includes something about synergies and then pays homage to their customers, employees, stockholders…no one cares. This is old school people.
What if instead, we get to actually meet the people behind your company? Hear from the horse’s mouth why they are passionate about what they do. Consider this for a moment: that dry, static bio/mission statement/core value page is replaced by a multi-segment video player housing dynamic, real life, video profiles in full motion living color. An Interactive ‘About Page’ if you will…now you’ve got my attention, and I suspect, that of your target audience.

Got something to say?

Brilliant idea! More and more we are seeing video in web sites and blogs. It really brings the site to life as well as the people behind the site, the business owner and employees. I have toyed with the idea of offering a video profile to local business people so that prospects can really get to know the people who are running the shop. Thanks for the post.
Thanks for commenting Ken. If you have any clients who are needing someting professional during July, we’re shooting almost everyday in a great studio on South Austin. Send them this way!
